If you benefit from web2py hope you feel encouraged to pay it forward by contributing back to society in whatever form you choose!

I don't want to use "username" to log-in ... but the user e-mail adress.

I am new to web2py ! and to python ! .. it has been 3 weeks, I have tested various Python frameworks, and I am stopping with web2py ! ...

I wish to impose or establish the log-in action to my app with the user-email instead of the username from the get-go ! can someone please point me in the right direction  on how to do this ??? .. I have no need of a username for the log-in action! ..

I have used the app wizard after the web2py install !

I am using web2py in virtualenv, on linux mint 12 with python 2.7

thank you.

If you use the wizard to create a new app, to avoid having the username included in the auth_user table, you can either tell the wizard not to create the auth_user table (just delete "auth_user" from the text box on the table list page), or delete the "username" field from the list of fields on the page defining the auth_user table. You could also manually edit the db.py file generated by the wizard after completing the wizard steps.

By default, web2py Auth does not create a username field or use it for login. See http://web2py.com/books/default/chapter/29/9#Authentication.
